CT State Police Seek Witnesses to I-95 Collision That Took Life of William Foster

Connecticut State Police are seeking witnesses to a three vehicle collision on I-95 in Fairfield prior to exit 22 that happened Thursday night, a minute shy of midnight. Troopers from Troop G responded.

State Police said in a release that the crash resulted in the death of William Foster, 75, of Regent Street in Bridgeport.

Many in Greenwich know Mr. Foster as “Billy.” He grew up in the Chickahominy neighborhood and was a singer in the band Billy and the Showmen.

Also killed was Fred Nimmon, 70, of Aspers, Pennsylvania.

A third driver, Divya Srinivasan, 32, of Great Falls, VA, had a possible injury.

According to State Police the crash involved a 2018 Chevy Impala driven by Mr. Foster, a 2023 Freightliner tractor trailer driven Mr. Nimmon, and a 2023 BMW 300 driven by Ms Srinivasan.

Mr. Foster was traveling in the center lane of three, when for an unknown reason he spun out, entered the median and collided with the concrete jersey barrier.

After the impact Foster’s car became disabled in the center lane.

Ms Srinivasan’s BMW was traveling in the center lane and collided with Mr. Foster’s Impala. Due to the impact, Foster was ejected from his vehicle onto the roadway.

The tractor trailer traveling in the center lane collided with the Impala. After the impact the truck entered the median and collided with the concrete jersey barrier. The truck driver, Mr. Nimmon, was ejected into the median of I-95 South.

State Police said Mr. Nimmon and Mr. Foster were both pronounced deceased at the collision scene. Next of kin notification was made.

Ms Srinivasan  was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for minor injuries. All the vehicles were towed from the scene and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad assisted with the collision investigation.

The case remains under investigation.
