Crash in Front of J House Results in Arrest of Local Driver

On Sunday around 3:30pm Greenwich Police responded to a report of a multi-vehicle car crash involving airbag deployment at at 1114 East Putnam Ave, which is the address associated with J House.

Police say that upon arrival they identified the driver of one of the vehicles and determined that he had attempted to make a left turn out of the private driveway of 1114 East Putnam Ave.

The driver said that he did not see the other vehicle as it traveled eastbound on East Putnam Ave.

The accused, Edward J Byrne, 56, of Greenwich was determined to have failed to yield the right-of-way to the oncoming vehicle already traveling on East Putnam Ave.

During investigation, the accused was showing signs of alcohol impairment. He was requested to submit to a field sobriety test, but not perform to standard.

He was arrested and charged with Illegal Operation of Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and Failure to Grant Right of Way.

His bond was set at $90 and was able to post the required minimum 10% in cash. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Nov 27, 2023.
