Bronx Man Arrested after Attempted Fraudulent Activity in Greenwich Retail Store

On Jan 4 Greenwich Police were detailed to a retailer in the area of Greenwich Ave on a report of fraudulent transaction in progress.

Patrol officers and plain clothes officers in the area were able to detain and positively identify the suspect, Joseph Perez, 31, of Bronx, NY.

Investigation revealed at Mr. Perez had presented a counterfeit Pennsylvania driver’s license featuring victim information alongside Mr. Perez’s photo in an attempt to fraudulently obtain goods.

Perez was also found to be in possession of additional fraudulent documents from utility companies bearing other victim information.

Perez was charged with Criminal Attempt Larceny 6, Identity Theft 3, Criminal Impersonation, Forgery 2 and two counts of Forgery 3.

He was issued a Promise to Appear and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Jan 20, 2023.
