Assault in Chickahominy Results in Multiple Charges for Port Chester Man

On May 21 at about 6:00am, multiple Greenwich Police were detailed to Josephine Evaristo Avenue in Chickahomony on the report of a victim being assaulted by a man and that the victim was bleeding from the mouth. Dispatch related that there was difficulty in obtaining information from the victim due to screaming in the background and that the phone call ended abruptly.

During the course of the on scene investigation, officers observed the apartment to be in disarray, with broken glass on the ground, an overturned ashtray dumped on the ground and a laptop sitting on its side next to small cabinet. Within the kitchen was located more broken glass, a broken cell phone on the ground, and a cabinet door broken from its hinges sitting in the middle of the floor.

According to Greenwich Police, the victim, who was grabbed by the neck and strangled, had difficulty breathing and felt lightheaded. The victim had visible bleeding to the mouth and bruising on the neck area.

John P Navarra of 54 Leonard Street #3 in Port Chester was arrested and charged with Assault 3rd degree, Strangulation 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd degree, Disorderly Conduct and Interfering with an Emergency Call.

A bond of $1,000 was set for Navarra, which he was able to post. He has a court date scheduled for May 23 in Stamford Superior Court.
