Arrest of Bronx Man Stemmed from Investigation of Stolen Vehicle from Riverside Commons

On Nov 7 Greenwich Police traveled to Rikers Island in NY to extradite a Bronx, NY man, Gregory Jefferson, 22,  by warrant on charges stemming from May 2, 2024 incident in Greenwich.

Lt Smyth said that back on May 2, 2024 around 9:45pm, the Greenwich Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from the Riverside Commons shopping center parking lot.

Investigation determined that two black male suspects started talking to the victim and his passenger while sitting in the parking lot, claiming to need assistance with charging their phone and needed a ride to a nearby train station.

The suspects were allowed into the victim’s vehicle. When the victim left his vehicle to go into a nearby store, the suspects told the passenger to get out of the vehicle and the suspect then fled the scene with the vehicle.

Through an investigation, Mr. Jefferson was identified as one of the suspects and a warrant for his arrest was obtained.

He was charged with: Conspiracy to Commit Assault 3, Larceny 1, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 1, Robbery 2, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 2, Risk of Injury to a Child, Conspiracy to Commit Risk of Injury to a Child and Burglary 1.

Mr. Jefferson’s bond was set t $175,000. He was assigned a court date in Stamford on Nov 21, 2024.

No other arrests have been made at this time.
