On July 13 plainclothes officers from the Greenwich Police Dept who were working in central Greenwich detained a man after they observed suspicious activity at a bank in the area of Greenwich Avenue.
Patrol officers and plainclothes offers were able to identify the arrestee as Imauni Hakiem Clarke, 33, of Bronx, NY.
Investigation revealed that Mr. Clarke and his co-conspirator agreed to deposit illegitimate funds (counterfeit checks) and attempted to conduct an $8,320.30 withdrawal against the checks using Mr. Clarke’s checking account.
He was charged with Criminal Attempt Larceny 3 and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3.
He was able to post the required 10% minimum of his $600 bond and was assigned a day in Stamford Superior Court on July 28, 2023.
