A Greenwich woman was arrested by local police after an incident in Cos Cob on July 8 around 6:00pm.
According to the Greenwich Police Criminal Information Summary, officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree on Stanwich Road.
When they responded they observed the vehicle in a ditch. On scene investigation determined while entering a private driveway, Lauren K Koopman, 50, drove off the driveway, down an embankment and landed in the ditch.
Within the vehicle at the time of the crash were four juveniles.
Upon making contact with the driver, Ms Koopman, officers detected an odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverage on her person. They added that Koopman’s eyes were read and glassy, she had difficulty maintaining her balance and her speech was slurred.
Police said Koopman was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard. She was arrested and charged with DUI and Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree.
Koopman was able to post the required 7% of her $1,500 bond and was released from Greenwich Police custody. She was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on July 23, 2025.
