Greenwich Police arrested three men on Greenwich Ave Wednesday and charged them with Larceny.
Police said that around 2:45pm, plainclothes officers observed suspicious activity in the Greenwich business district related to transactions the trio were engaged in at a financial institution.
Patrol officers and plainclothes offers working in the area were able to detain and positively identify the co-conspirators.
Investigation revealed that the three men were conspiring to withdraw $3,000 from one of the co-conspirator’s bank account after fraudulently depositing a counterfeit check for $9,345.61.
A subsequent search of the vehicle the suspects were in revealed $7,000 in cash in the rear driver-side passenger door pocket.
During the investigation officers discovered that the men had withdrawn $3,000 from another branch in Greenwich approximately 25 minutes earlier.
Akeem A Dennis, 26, of Bronx, NY was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3 and Larceny 3. His bond was set at $150,000, which he was unable to post.
Police charged Joab Alexander Taylor, 33, of Stamford, with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3. His bond was set at $20,000, which he was able to post.
A third man, Patrick Melverton Blake, 59, of Brentwood, NY was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3 and Larceny 3. His bond was set at $20,000, which he was able to post.
All three men are due in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 18, 2024.
