Letter: Greenwich Residents Poke Holes in Administration’s Case against Band Leader

An open letter to the Board of Education from a group of residents who attended all nine public hearings into Greenwich High School band leader John Yoon’s termination features a list of concerns. The group questions the veracity of parent complaints that triggered the termination, the lack of timely notification to Mr. Yoon of the complaints, updates to his personnel file without his knowledge, and alleged neglect of the dysfunctional music department at GHS by administration. The group also says the Superintendent and administrators ignored their obligations to Mr. Yoon under the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibilities of Administrators.

The letter writers say they seek a fair resolution of the case and suggests that if the Board of Education terminates Mr. Yoon, they will effectively condone illegal processes and procedures, and, as a result make teaching and coaching impossible in Greenwich Schools.
