Joseph A. Franze, 62

Joseph Anthony Franze Jr, a lifetime resident of Greenwich, passed away March 29, 2025, at age 62. He was born on December 22, 1962, to Joseph Sr and Frances Franze.

Joe was truly a man of many hats. After graduating high school, he began his career in furniture restoration at the Franze family business, Town and Country Furniture in Cos Cob. His craftsmanship and dedication were evident in every piece he worked on. He later joined Griffin & Howe in Greenwich, where he not only honed his skills but discovered his passion for shooting sporting clays. This passion took him across the United States, attending trade shows and connecting with people from all walks of life. Joe’s warmth and charm earned him friendships not only across the nation but even “over the pond,” leaving an indelible mark wherever he went.

In 2015, Joe faced a health battle that showed his immense strength and resilience. Despite the odds, he recovered after a difficult hospitalization that lasted over a month. His determination to overcome adversity was inspiring, and he proved that his spirit was unshakable.

Joe’s life took yet another meaningful turn when he joined a flooring company. Through this role, he achieved an extraordinary honor—working on the floors of the White House. His name, alongside others who contributed to the project, is forever embedded beneath the floor in the East Room. Joe’s pride in this accomplishment was profound, knowing he had become part of American history.

McDuff’s Scottish pub became a cherished part of his later life—a place where he found not just friendship, but family. His ability to connect with people and form deep bonds was truly remarkable and speaks volumes about the kind of person he was.

Joe also loved to listen to music, was a fan of the New Orleans Saints, and above all, enjoyed spending time with his two children. He is survived by his cherished sons, Joseph A. Franze III, and Jeremy Franze and a brother, Jeff Franze (Darlene), niece Jennifer and countless loved ones and friends.

He lived his life with a strong devotion to family, and his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to call him a friend or family.

Although he will be profoundly missed. Joseph’s spirit will live on in the hearts of the loved ones live’s he’s touch. Joe’s life was a testament to resilience, hard work, and the value of meaningful connections. He touched countless lives through his warmth, laughter, and unwavering spirit. Though he has left us, the legacy he built and the memories he created will live on in our hearts forever.
