John Scott Calabro, 67

John Scott Calabro, a lifetime Greenwich resident, passed away peacefully on January 5 at the age of 67.

His adoring wife, Maryann was by his side. John was born October 9, 1954 to John and Grace Calabro.

He graduated Greenwich High School in the early 1970’s. John spent every day of his life as a resident of Greenwich Connecticut; born and raised in Chickahominy.

John was the founder of On The Way Cafe in Rye, NY and later, Fairways at the Griff in Greenwich.

He lived to serve and bring people together with his cooking. From the thousands that he served in his restaurants and most importantly for his family, John was known to always have any extra dish of food and a spot at his table.

Along with his success as a beloved chef, John was a well-respected member of the Greenwich Board of Education for 26 years.

He loved watching the New York Jets play on Sundays but he was never happier than making a meal to share with his sons and friends while watching the game.

John is survived by his cherished wife, Maryann, loving sons, Jason Calabro (Marissa) and Jeffrey Calabro and dear grandson, Jake Calabro. He is also survived by his father, John and brother, Brian.

To honor John’s life, family and friends will gather on Monday, Jan 10, 2022 4:00-8:00pm at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave Greenwich, 203-869-5968. Funeral Mass Tuesday, Jan 12, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Roch’s Church followed by private committal.
