The Greenwich Police Department provides public safety services to a diverse community of over 62,000 residents only 20 miles from NYC. In addition to law enforcement, GPD is the first responder to all medical calls in Greenwich and is at the forefront of meeting the most challenging issues within the Town. GPD is one of the few municipal police agencies in CT providing full-service policing operations, including a forensics lab, a dedicated community policing team, and a Marine Section with several vessels.  

The Greenwich Police Department is located within the Town of Greenwich Public Safety Complex at 11 Bruce Place. The Department has 152 sworn officers in three Divisions; Patrol, Detective, and Support Services. The Command Structure consists of the Chief of Police, two Deputy Chiefs, three Captains, seven Lieutenants, and twenty-three Sergeants. There also are appointed non-supervisory positions, Master Police Officer, Detective First Grade, Detective, School Resource Officer, K-9 Officer, Traffic Enforcement Officer, Marine Officer, Bike Officer, Range Officer, and IT Officer positions. Our size and organizational structure allow for many opportunities beyond promotion in rank. The annual starting salary for a Greenwich Officer is $72,730.00, with the average Officer’s annual income at approximately $140,000.
