Registrar: With Possible August Primary, Voters Can Register with a Party to Vote, or Change Parties

According to the Registrar of Voters office, based upon the wide array of candidates, it is likely that there will be primaries held on August 14 for one or both of the major parties. These upcoming primaries are only for voters registered with a party.

To vote in the Democratic primary, you must be registered as a Democrat. Likewise, to vote in the Republican Primary, you must be registered as a Republican.

To check your status, please check online at www.greenwichct.org/vote. Click on the “Check to see if I am registered” link.

To change your party, your address, or to register to vote, click on the “How to Register to Vote” link.

May 14, 2018 is the deadline for an elector to change from one party to another and be eligible to vote in the new parties’ Primary.

If you are registered as an unaffiliated voter (not registered with any party) the deadline to change to a Party by mail is August 9, 2018. Mail in application must be received by this date. Deadline to register in person is August 13, 2018, 12:00 pm.

New Voters registering by mail must make sure mail is postmarked by August 9.

August 14, 2018 is Primary Day.
