LWV Greenwich: September 17 is National Voter Registration Day

September 17 is National Voter Registration Day, and the League of Women Voters Greenwich is pulling out all the stops to ensure the Greenwich community is:

• Registered to VOTE
• Knows about Early Voting which begins October 21 and runs through November 4 at Greenwich Town Hall
or
• Applies for an Absentee Ballot

LWV Greenwich Get Out The Vote (GOTV) initiatives aim to spread the word about voting and ensure all qualified residents register and VOTE.

The League is handing out nonpartisan materials about voter registration, early voting, and absentee voting through a multi-prong campaign:

Sayah Trahanas, a Brunswick Senior and an LWV Greenwich Student Board Member, in partnership with the First Selectman’s Youth Council, has organized a National Voter Registration Day drive at Brunswick, Greenwich Academy, and Greenwich Country Day School aimed at registering students who turn 18 by November 5, 2024.

LWV Board Member Cathy Steel has organized voter information distribution at all 19 Greenwich Public School open houses as well as at YMCA, YWCA, and Neighbor to Neighbor events.

Additionally, LWV Greenwich has partnered with 12 Greenwich Communities organizations to notify their members about voting.

Mary Browne and Nancy Duffy have coordinated with Greenwich Communities to provide voter information to their residents.

The LWV Greenwich continues with their ambitious GOTV postcard writing campaign at Coffee for Good. The League will write postcards every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday to Greenwich residents who may be away during the voting season and to those who are newly registered to vote in Greenwich. Lawn signs reminding people to vote will also be available during these times.

Last, Hilary Martin Lea and Laura Yens are coordinating a Vote Fest with local Greenwich retailers to provide discounts to voters who display their “I Voted” stickers or selfies from the polls.

Please remember to VOTE by November 5. Every Election Counts.
