Greenwich put out an alert to residents on Wednesday saying, if they suffered property or home damage as a result of flooding from last Sunday’s storm, to please register that damage online.
Per the alert, federal money has not yet been approved from FEMA to cover storm damage and it may not be approved in the future. But to even have the chance to get this money, flooding damage from the storm must be reported.
The State of Connecticut and Town of Greenwich are working together to collect data that will then be sent to the federal government as part of an application for FEMA funding. If your home or property was damaged during the storm, you should go online and complete the self-reporting survey.
The collection of data is an important first step and Greenwich Emergency Management is working in conjunction with the State of Connecticut on this. The collected data will be used to evaluate if Connecticut meets the threshold for federal post-disaster assistance through FEMA.
