DUI for Driver with No License, Open Containers of Alcohol in Car

On Sunday, Nov 21 Greenwich Police patrolling the west side of town spotted a vehicle weaving while traveling westbound on West Putnam Ave.

When police attempted to stop the car around 1:00am, the driver initially refused to do so. When he did stop, the driver, identified as Jairo Lopez, 19, of Greenwich, did not have a driver’s license.

Police say he had red glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol.

Open containers of alcoholic beverages were observed in the vehicle and when asked, Lopez admitted to drinking while driving. He was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard.

He was charged with Drinking While Driving, DUI, Driving without a License, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane and Disobeying Signal of Officer.

Lopez posted his $250 bond and was released. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 6, 2021.
