New Leb Kids Take a Unique Field Trip: Interstate Lumber

New Lebanon 1st graders thoroughly enjoyed their field trip to Interstate and Lakeland Lumber in Byram.  Students had a hands on experience learning about, “Consumers and Producers.”

Owner and CEO of Interstate, Sheldon Kahn, discussed how his products are manufactured, shipped, purchased and used.

Mr. Kahn also spoke about supply and demand and answered questions that varied from buying items online to how long his business has been in Byram.  His favorite question that was asked by a young 1st grader was ” Can I get a job here?”  Mr. Kahn replied without hesitation “we’ll grab an application on the way out, I’ll be waiting for you in about 10 years.”
