Local businesswoman Daniela Fischer’s Jewels by Daniela fulfills a lifelong passion for nature and jewelry design.
Fischer recently took over the space at 261 East Putnam Ave, across from Cos Cob School.
Ms Fischer and her family moved to Greenwich 20 years ago from Switzerland where she had trained as a nurse and practiced for 10 years.
While raising a growing family in Greenwich, Fischer created jewelry whenever time would allow.
Eventually her hobby evolved into a business. Her training included study with renowned teachers including Jeanette Ceanes, Master Goldsmith and Director of Jewelry Arts Inc.
Fischer received a diploma as a diamond setter and engraver from the internationally acclaimed Jewelry Institute of America.
Fischer said her jewelry is inspired by nature, including walks in the woods and strolls along the beach.
She creates one-of-a-kind, unique pieces using only fine metals, mostly high carat gold with precious gemstones.
“The process of creating a fine jewelry piece happens all with my hands,” she said. “From melting the gold, milling it, forming, designing, soldering and setting the stones, it is all all made by me in my Greenwich studio.”
Fischer said some of her pieces have won prizes at competitions. In fact, she was a finalist at last year’s Milano Jewelry Week.
Jewels by Daniela is located at 261 E Putnam Ave in Cos Cob.
