WHITRIDGE: I am a Republican, and the name-calling of Republicans has to stop

Submitted by Linda Whitridge

Your journal is filled with rhetoric during election season. While it is understandable that candidates and parties try hard to get their platform or word out, it is regrettable that many are using unacceptable generalizations to promote their candidacy.

Particularly, calling Republicans – nearly 10,000 residents in Greenwich – names like extremists or far-right is just unacceptable. I am a registered Republican, and I know these allegations are just not true. Both parties have some who may not be mainstream, but that is always a minority. I am a mom, living in the town I grew up in, and I just want my family to have the same safe neighborhoods, the same great education and the same stability that my family had. I think that our Republican candidates all represent these values and goals.

This rhetoric of negativity against Republicans is not correct. I ask readers to reject this negativity and think for themselves.  Vote Republican Row B, especially for all six BET Republicans, to keep Greenwich the town that we all love.

NOTE: The deadline to submit a letter to the editor about candidates in the Nov 7, 2023 election is Oct 30, 2023 at 12:00pm.
