PRIHODA: Kicking the maintenance can down the road = more projects, greater costs

To the editor,

Yes, there have been many letters to the editor and discussions amongst Greenwich residents about cutting the Greenwich Public Schools budget, as Republican BET Chair, with his tie-breaking vote, Harry Fisher notes in his latest letter, (FISHER: Clarifying the Matter of School Start Time and Bussing May 22, 2025)

Mr. Fisher also notes that “Never have there been three projects to renovate two schools and build a new one.”

Gosh, the Central Middle School walls were tumbling down back when I served two terms on the RTM back in 2018.

It doesn’t take a mathematical genius to know that the formula kicking the maintenance can down the road = more projects and greater costs.

At whose expense?  Students, educators and staff, safety and ADA compliance that’s who.

Respectfully,
Monica Prihoda
