To the Editor:
Election season is upon us. This year, election day is November 4, early voting starts on October 20 at Town Hall, and absentee ballots become available on October 4.
On the ballot in the municipal elections are half of the seats on the Board of Education. Unusually, this year in Greenwich there is an additional seat that is only open to a Republican because of an existing vacancy.
But the purpose of this letter is not to talk about the Republican candidates, it is to extol the personal qualifications of Veronica Chiavaroli, a Greenwich Democrat. By now you may have read about her professional experience and educational background, which alone should be convincing reasons to vote her onto the Board of Education.
She is a teacher, a Greenwich High School graduate, and a mother of three young children, two of whom are in the Greenwich public school system. But you may not have read about her youngest, who at one week old became an honorary member of the Julian Curtiss School Building Committee. You read that right. The committee was stunned and instantly smitten when Veronica showed up in person with her baby shortly after giving birth. Talk about commitment! There is no doubt that Veronica will continue to show such commitment to our schools should she be elected to the Board of Education. I for one will be voting for her!
