Letter: 10 Reasons to Vote Republican on November 6

Letter to the editor from Rob Golden, Greenwich

Ten Reasons to Vote Republican on November 6th

1) Vote Republican if you’re a millionaire, billionaire or a corporate titan because the GOP gave you a huge tax cut last year.  (If you’re part of the bottom 90% you might want to vote for the Democrats.)

2) Vote Republican if you’re young, healthy and have health insurance through your employer because the GOP has not taken away your healthcare, yet. (If you have to buy healthcare on the open market or if you have a pre-existing condition, you might want to vote for the Democrats.)

3) Vote Republican if you own or work in a senior position for an oil company because the GOP pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord thereby protecting your business for the foreseeable future. (If you, your children or grandchildren plan to live past 2040, or if you live near a coast, you might want to vote for the Democrats).

4) Vote Republican if you own or work in a senior position for a large corporation like a bank because the GOP has decimated the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. (If you have any money in a bank or if you ever buy anything from any company, you might want to vote for the Democrats).

5) Vote Republican if you are a man because the GOP will give you excellent job recommendations even in the face of sexual assault allegations. (If you are a woman, you might want to vote for the Democrats).

6) Vote Republican if you purchase all your water and oxygen in bottles or canisters because the environmental regulations eliminated by the GOP won’t affect you. (If you drink water out of a tap or breathe the air you might want to vote for the Democrats.)

7) Vote Republican if you are about to die and have a large estate because the GOP is getting rid of all estate taxes. (If you rely on Social Security now or plan to in the future, you might want to vote for the Democrats.)

8) Vote Republican if you are white because the GOP will not suppress your vote by sticking your registration form into a drawer or by closing polls in your neighborhood or by rejecting your form of identification. (If you are a person of color, you might want to vote for the Democrats — if the GOP will let you).

9) Vote Republican if you never read, listen to or watch the news because the GOP is not wasting any efforts protecting the media. (If you are a journalist, you might want to vote for the Democrats, if you’re still alive come Election Day.)

10) Vote Republican if you are a Koch brother because all of your millions in campaign contributions are now paying huge dividends in GOP policies. (If you’re not a Koch brother, you might want to vote for the Democrats.)
