Bocchino: We all get knocked down, but it is how you get up that defines you.

Letter to the editor from State Rep Mike Bocchino, district 150

It has been my honor and privilege to serve the people of the 150th district of the Town of Greenwich as your State Representative. On November 6th, those that voted in the election chose a different path and direction for the State of CT then I had envisioned.

While I do not agree with raising taxes and tolling our roads, I respect the democratic process and wish Representative elect Steve Meskers success in his new position.

This has been a long campaign season and as I sit with my family and look back on the past 4 years of service I am so proud to have been a part of the greatest delegation in the State of CT. Rep. Floren, Rep. Camillo and Sen. Frantz are treasures. I was truly blessed to have them as colleagues and I am so grateful to call them my friend. I am proud of the record that I have and all the accomplishments made along the way.

Saving the Medicare Savings Plan, Funding the Retired Teachers Health Care Fund, Passing Emily’s Law and helping so many constituents along the way with each of their individual issues really are just a few items in a very long list of accomplishments.

However, every time I drive by the new New Lebanon School I will always be reminded of what one can do if you work hard and surround yourself with a great team.

A great man told me “we all get knocked down, but it is how you get up that defines you.”

I believe it’s time that we ALL get up and stop with the nasty divisive rhetoric. Thank you to my family and friends for their love and support and again thank you to the people of the 150th district for the privilege of representing you and your families in Hartford.
