Republican BET’s diligence should be applauded
The Republican BET members have done excellent diligence. They have provided facts and rigorous analysis behind their decision-making. The Democrats have argued with complaints, excuses, and allegations.
Why should we not consider alternative sites for a school if they lead to better outcomes? Should asbestos remediation be done when students are in school? Why should a school be built for 700 students when enrollment is projected below 500? These are all good questions that need to be asked. I thank the Republican BET members for bringing them up.
Republicans have a plan to stop builders from putting high rises in our neighborhoods; they deserve our support.
Also, Republican BET members have put forth a concrete plan to stop high rises by obtaining a moratorium from the state law, which allows builders to bypass local zoning. I have heard residents and elected officials complain about 8-30g, but this is the first concrete plan that has been proposed.
The Republicans have proposed to work with Greenwich communities, which builds 100% affordable housing, and apply to the state Department of Housing for a four-year moratorium. Once our town receives a moratorium, no builder can bypass the town’s rules because they will build a few low-rent apartments in their high-rise building.
Join me in voting for the six BET Republicans on November 7.
NOTE: The deadline to submit LTEs for candidates in the Nov 7 Greenwich municipal election was Oct 30,2023 at 12:00 noon.
