YMCA of Greenwich to Unite Greenwich Community with Month-Long Welcoming Celebration

In a historic first, the YMCA of Greenwich expands its annual ‘Welcoming Week’ celebration to encompass the month of September.

As a cornerstone of the Greenwich community, the YMCA of Greenwich will mark the occasion with exclusive promotions, events open to non-members, and the grand opening of two new state-of-the-art fitness centers.

“Welcoming Week has always been a celebration of our members and the diversity of our community. We saw no good reason why this should be limited to one week so we’ve made it a month-long celebration with lots of special events and activities to bring together the Greenwich community as a whole,” said Jodi FitzGerald, Senior Director of Member Experience at the YMCA of Greenwich.

Each September, YMCAs nationwide observe Welcoming Week, an initiative led by Welcoming America in partnership with Y-USA. This annual event aims to promote cross-cultural understanding by connecting immigrants with U.S.-born residents and highlighting the benefits of inclusivity. This year, more than 1,200 YMCAs are participating.

To encourage community participation, the YMCA of Greenwich is offering non-members a complimentary 7-day trial. This trial includes access to the facility's amenities like lap swimming, over 50 group exercise classes, wellness workshops, and family-friendly events.

Additionally, new members who join between September 3rd and September 30th will benefit from a waived joiner’s fee and a 15% discount on their first three months of membership.

Welcoming Month events aim to celebrate the diversity of the Greenwich community and are open to everyone. Non-members of the YMCA of Greenwich are especially encouraged to participate. All events except Back to the Y Bingo and Kids Game Night are free.

Free childcare will be provided during the events for all YMCA family members.
