Greenwich Community Gardens is proud to report that the new Bible Street Community Garden, located at 129 Bible Street in Cos Cob, is taking shape.
With good weather and additional volunteers the new garden will open in mid-May.
The garden will be filled with raised beds measuring 4’ by 8’ which residents may rent for the season. Water and tools will be provided to gardeners There will also be a handful of beds designed for people with limited mobility and will be assigned accordingly.
Anyone who wants to become a community gardener at Bible Street will need to attend one of two garden plot sign-up open houses:
- Saturday, April 26th – 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, or
- Sunday, April 27th – 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
The meetings will be held in the second floor meeting room at the Cos Cob Firehouse located at 200 East Putnam Avenue.
These meetings are where people can learn more about how the garden will operate, the responsibilities of community gardeners and can complete an application and pay the annual garden fee of $50 (checks only, please).
The approximately 90 plots will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Prospective gardeners may download the new Gardeners Handbook after April 21, 2014 from the Greenwich Community Gardens website. The handbook includes important garden information and the necessary sign-up forms to reserve a garden plot. Handbooks and sign-up forms will also be available on sign-up days at the Firehouse.
