Locals Capture Video of Seals on Cormorant Rocks in Greenwich Harbor

Thank you Howard Ochs who was out in Greenwich Harbor with Dan O’Brien, both from Rye Brook, NY, Saturday when Howard captured this footage of seals on Cormorant Rocks.

O’Brien said he was surprised, never having seen seals there before.

Maybe their appearance was a result of the relatively warm weather after the lengthy cold snap.

Harbor seals arrive in Greenwich Harbor and Long Island Sound from Canada and Maine, typically from late November/December through March or April.  The winter visitors can be found resting on rocks and coastal areas, particularly during low tide.

If you don’t have a boat, you can visit the Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk where they have seal feeding demonstrations.
