Friends of Greenwich Library Present “A Night out with Friends at the Theater”

Join the Friends of Greenwich Library for “A Night Out With Friends at the Theater,” and kick off the holiday season with an entertaining, laugh-filled evening of live dramatic readings in the Library’s redesigned Berkley Theater.

Professional actors from JIB Productions will share their must-see holiday show “Seasons Readings.” This festive reading will take place on Thursday, December 2, at 7:00pm.

A lively talkback and Q&A session with JIB Productions Artistic Director Carole Schweid and the professional cast of actors will immediately follow the performance. Registration is required for this program and available on the Library’s online calendar at greenwichlibrary.org

The evening will consist of soul-stirring short stories and irresistible one-act plays in the spirit of the holiday season. This year’s program includes playwright Matt Hoverman’s hilarious “Going Home,” the story of two newlyweds trying to make the most of their first Christmas alone together in their small apartment.

Other stories include “The Curmudgeon” by Minnesota writer and National Book Award winner Pete Hautman, a memory play that brings together a motley crew of grown children to spend the holidays with their father; “The Tailor of Gloucester” by famed author Beatrix Potter; and “A Christmas Ballad for the Captain” by William Lederer.

“The Friends of Greenwich Library are thrilled to welcome JIB Productions to Greenwich Library for the first time in-person after their two successful virtual events with us last year,” said Hilary Martin Lea, chair of the Friends of Greenwich Library. “JIB Productions is one of the premier performing companies in Fairfield County and their literary programs are always thought-provoking and meaningful.”

Doors of the Berkley Theater will open at 6:30 p.m. All attendees will be required to show proof of full vaccination (in the form of their CDC vaccination card or a photo or photocopy of the card) or a negative PCR Test taken within 72 hours of the event. No one will be admitted without this documentation. All attendees will be required to wear a mask throughout the entire performance. Capacity in the Berkley Theater is set at 100 percent for adult programs.
