Celebrating Chanukah at the Temple Sholom Selma Maisel Nursery School

Children at the Temple Sholom Selma Maisel Nursery School were joined by their parents last week at special pre-Chanukah celebrations for the “Festival of Lights.”

Rabbi Mitchell M. Hurvitz and Rabbi Gisel Baler welcomed part-day and full-day families into the Sanctuary for the telling of the Chanukah story, the lighting the Chanukiah, and for a holiday-themed sing-a-long led by music specialist Joanna Levine.

Families then returned to their classrooms for festive gatherings prepared by the teachers, complete with delicious latkes, sufganiyot (donuts), music and supplies for creating edible dreidels to take home to enjoy during the winter break.

“Our Chanukah celebrations are filled with so much joy, laughter and light,” said David Cohen, Director of Schools. “They are just one of many opportunities throughout the school year for parents to experience the vibrancy of our nursery school program alongside their child.”
