Barbara’s House to Host Fifth Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

Barbara’s House will host its fifth Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive next Wednesday to ensure underserved families and senior citizens in need in the Greenwich community can enjoy a warm and dignified Thanksgiving meal.

What started as a small effort to combat food insecurity during the pandemic has grown into a robust annual operation powered by Barbara’s House staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous community partners.

The program provides full meal packages – turkey, sides, gravy, and pie – for over 70 families with children and individualized meals for prepared for 100 senior citizens who may be homebound or without support.

The delicious comestibles are prepared by local chef Juan Benitez and his friends Tony and Alston Calabrese, along with numerous volunteers who prep, peel, and pack. The entire initiative is generously supported by the Calabrese’s foundation Food for Fairfield.

Thanks to their incredible support Barbara’s House has been able to expand their reach every year, reinforcing their mission to uplift and support families in the community.

If you would like to volunteer to prepare or distribute food, please contact Vanessa Cardinal Bocicault at 203-869-1276.

Many thanks to the Glenville Polish Club for hosting Barbara’s House this year, to Neighbor to Neighbor, Stew Leonards, Greenwich Community Bank, and so many generous individuals for providing the turkeys that are shared with families and used to cook the holiday meals.
