Greenwich YMCA to Host Free Teen Night on Aug 12

On Friday, August 12, 2022, the Greenwich YMCA will host a free teen night for middle school and high school students in collaboration with several community partners.

This event is the third in a series of events motivated by the community’s commitment to create opportunities for positive engagement for Greenwich middle and high school students. Approximately 75 youth attended previous events hosted by Arch Street Teen Center and Greenwich United Way. The YMCA anticipates up to 100 youth participants on Friday.

In addition to offering robust summer programs for youth, YMCA directors, Ricky Perez, Lauren Chiappetta, and Charles Gibbons have planned an evening of activity that includes open swim, a three-on-three basketball tournament, a membership raffle, games, prizes, music, and pizza. Youth development professionals, life guards, and community volunteers will assist in facilitating activities and ensuring the safety of program participants.

Raffle prizes include:
• 3-Month Family Membership and 3-Month Youth Membership to the YMCA of Greenwich
• $20 Amazon Gift Cards
• YMCA Swag

The event is co-sponsored by Kids-In-Crisis, Greenwich Alliance for Education, Greenwich Department of Human Services, Greenwich Youth Services Bureau, Family Centers, the Greenwich Police Department, Community Centers, Inc, United Way of Greenwich, Arch Street Teen Center, and Greenwich Together.

Inspired by this collaboration, YMCA CEO, Matthew Skaarup said, “This partnership complements the Y’s mission to bring and strengthen the community through programs and services that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body. Greenwich families benefit when we come together to support them.”

Teen Night will take place at YMCA of Greenwich, 50 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday August 12, 2022.

Participants should bring close-toed shoes, bathing suit, towel,
and water bottle.

Registration in advance is required, and parents are required to complete waivers for youth participation in this free event. Follow the QR code to register today.
