GHS Leaders of the Next Generation Plan Second “Green Guardians” Free Event

This upcoming September, Leaders of the Next Generation – a student-run non-profit organization led by Sameera Madan and Jacklyn Pizzella, both 17 – will host their second “Green Guardians” event at Audubon Greenwich on September 7 from 12:00 to 4:00pm with a special speaker at 3:15 pm.

It is free and all are welcome.

Through stations featuring activities and games, children and their families will learn about migratory species and bring these lessons in sustainability home with them.

Your mission: As an animal expert, determine what is causing a disturbance in the migration pattern of animals across the world. Visitors must venture through the local Zoo (The Greenwich Audubon), exploring the animal exhibits (different stations) in order to solve this mystery.

The non profit’s leaders announced in a release that the event will be supported by EverSource, who awarded them a $1,000 dollar grant.

Eversource is New England’s largest energy delivery company with 4.4 million customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The energy company is empowering the clean energy future in the Northeast with nationally recognized energy efficiency solutions and successful programs to integrate new clean energy resources, like a first-in-the-nation geothermal pilot project, offshore wind, electric vehicles, battery storage, and solar, into the electric system.

Eversource proudly partnered on the first community solar project in its service territory through Connecticut’s Statewide Shared Clean Energy Facility (SCEF) Program.

Leaders of the Next Generation said they were extremely grateful to receive the grant, and were ready for all the excitement and possibilities it will bring for them.

“We’re excited to support Leaders of the Next Generation in their mission to raise awareness about environmental issues and the importance of sustainability,” Eversource Community Relations Specialist Christopher Farrell said in the release.

“It’s inspiring to see these young people informing and empowering others to take action to improve their community and the world around them. It’s that kind of engagement that helps spur innovative and thoughtful solutions that will be crucial as we move towards a clean energy future.”
