First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich will welcome a new Senior Pastor, the Rev. Dr. Seth Weeldreyer on April 13, 2026. Seth is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He comes to Greenwich from the First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo, where he served 16 years as Senior Pastor.

Rev. Dr. Seth Weeldreyer
Seth was the third child in a family of eight children born to a gregarious superintendent of schools and a stay-at-home mom. He received a BA in Secondary Education, History and German from Hope College. He then received an MA in College and University Administration from Michigan State University.
Marriage and a calling to the ministry led him to Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. Upon graduation, he served a congregation in Dunbar, Scotland followed by twelve-years with a congregation at the First Presbyterian Church in Marshall, Michigan. A subsequent academic adventure led him to McCormick Seminary in Chicago, where he received a doctorate (D.Min.) in Preaching.
Seth has also held leadership roles in the Presbytery and General Assembly, and has served on CREDO, in which ministers focus on nurturing their peers, thereby bolstering the health of the Presbyterian church.
Seth is a parent of three grown children. His daughter, Ailih, has settled in Brooklyn and currently serves as the managing director of the World Student Christian Federation. Gabriel lives in Dallas, Texas, working in the architectural branch of an acoustics engineering firm. Nathaniel is pursuing a graduate degree in museum and arts management in East Lansing, Michigan.
Avocationally, Seth is a reader, a youth sports coach and referee, a hiker, a cyclist, and a lover of movies, music, and theater. He has designed and built three homes. He has traveled throughout the United States and world and feels energized by embracing new adventures.
Local community life is a personal priority. Seth is unabashedly a people person – an effective and inspirational communicator and listener who values the input of those from different experiences and backgrounds.
“I am deeply grateful for the grace of a call to serve among First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich. At a central intersection of the [Greenwich] community, from the junction of our individual hopes and fears, into the crossroads of our world’s concerns, we share strong capacity to touch others with Holy Love,” he said in a release from the church.
A congregationally elected Pastoral Search Committee (PNC) met over an 18-month period to identify new senior leadership for First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich. Led by Layne Grindal, the PNC included Michelle Binnie, Carolyn Cleveland, Maria Crowley, Bob Giambo, Tony Kane, Heidi Novak, Hal Ritch, and Tom West. They identified the Rev. Dr. Weeldreyer, who preached at the church on January 11, 2026, and then was approved overwhelmingly by the congregation.
