Christ Church Greenwich Hosts Peaceful Interfaith Vigil

On Wednesday evening, January 28, Christ Church in Greenwich hosted a peaceful “Interfaith Vigil of Peace and Lament,” organized by The Greenwich Fellowship of Clergy, with Clergy from local places of worship in Greenwich, to bring together community members of many faith traditions for a time of prayer, reflection, and unity.

In response to recent events that have left many feeling unsettled and afraid, the gathering offered a respectful and welcoming space for song, silence and shared hope.

The Rev. Stephanie M. Johnson, President of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Riverside and President of the Greenwich Fellowship of Clergy, spoke.

“We will walk into the cold darkness to shine the light of God into our community,” she said. “The light that shows us the journey for justice and kindness that God demands and invites us to and strengthens us for; to remind the world that God will let good come out of everything.”

The peaceful, prayerful vigil concluded with participants joining in a candlelit procession while singing, “Let There Be Peace on Earth,” symbolizing remembrance, resilience, and a collective commitment to carry light and compassion into the world.

The nonpartisan service emphasized healing, solidarity and the power of faith to bring people together across differences.
