Did you ever dream of what it would be like to travel to the moon and see the earth for the first time from deep space? Come hear Basil Hero, an award winning former investigative reporter with NBC News, share stirring reflections from 9 of the 12 surviving astronauts, out of 24 in all, who walked on or orbited the moon.

His critically acclaimed book,The Mission of a Lifetime: Lessons from The Men Who Went to the Moon, was selected by the Financial Times as one of its Top 10 reads of the summer and is considered one of the best books on the leadership skills and spirituality of the Apollo astronauts.

The author highlights how they conquered fear and were inevitably changed by their lunar voyages. In personal interviews, which are the basis for the book, with the nine, they talk at length about the real right stuff, the true source of courage, leadership, and the quiet patriotism that it took to risk their lives going to the moon. Their voyages led to the most incredible discovery of all: our home planet and its precious place in the universe. They fear for the earth’s future and offer sensible solutions to its mounting crises and the path to future space exploration.

Basil holds a BA degree in Political Science from Tufts University. Following his work with NBC News, he started his own media company, which he subsequently sold and then focused on helping nonprofits with their fundraising and marketing efforts. The Mission of a Lifetime is his initial undertaking as an author.

The following week, on February 16, Steve Meskers, State Representative, District 150 of Connecticut General Assembly, will speak on “Economic Development in Post-Covid Connecticut.”
