Learn How to Research Your Irish Geneaology at Irish Family History Day on March 12

Irish Family History Day 2023 in Fairfield, CT is set for March 12, 2023. (Register by March 3). The event is being organized by The Ulster Historical Foundation and will be held at the Gaelic-American Club, 74 Beach Road in Fairfield, CT.

Doors open 9:30am. Event starts at 10:00am and runs until 2:00pm. The event is in person.

Irish Family History Day is a half-day of in-person learning how to research Irish genealogy.

Lectures are presented by Fintan Mullan and Gillian Hunt of the Ulster Historical Foundation (of Belfast, Co. Antrim). Join the experts and learn how to get the most out of Irish resources and gain tips and tricks for breaking down brick walls. The seminar will explore strategies for researching Irish and Scots-Irish ancestors. The program content covers all 32 counties of Ireland – not solely Ulster and challenges tracing Irish ancestors.

This is the only stop in Connecticut for these experts during their 2023 North American tour.

Topics covered will include:
•An introduction to archives in Ireland and their websites
• Church records for use in genealogical research: administrative records, vestry minutes, visitation books, church censuses, communicant rolls, etc
• Using printed sources for Irish family history
• Q&A – solving brick walls
