Garden Club of OG and Riverside Garden Club Celebrate “The Great American Flower Show”

On September 28, the Garden Club of Old Greenwich and the Riverside Garden Club sponsored “The Great American Flower Show” at Saint Paul’s Church in Riverside.

The show was inspired by “The Great British Bake Off ” and was open to all club members and their invited guests.

On display were tables full of gorgeous horticulture and stunning floral designs for the judges to review. The design competition, inspired by the “British Bake Off” theme, featured floral designs in the categories of Petit Fours, Trifle and Croquembouche.

A delicious lunch was followed by a review of the horticulture and designs, attendees were treated to an Ikebana presentation by Shizue Pleasanton, who studied in Japan and currently teaches Sogetsu Ikebana at the Silvermine Arts Center.   Ms Pleasanton has also presented in England, Japan, New York City at the New York Botanical Gardens, Christie’s Auction House and the Metropolitan Museum.
