Multiple Charges for Trucker Who Exceeded 4 Ton Weight Limit on Indian Field Rd

On Sept. 24, Greenwich Police  stopped a commercial rack body truck traveling southbound on Indian Field Rd, which is posted No Trucks, 4 Ton weight limit with a bridge within the area this vehicle was traveling. The vehicle was found to have a listed 19,500 lbs GVWR, well above the 4 ton limit.

The operator, identified through a Guatemalan ID card as Elder Oswaldo Ortiz, 26, of 308 Greenwich Ave, Apt. 1 Stamford, was unable to provide a US drivers license and was was shown to have a suspended driving status due to a prior DWI arrest.

He was then placed under arrest and transported to the Greenwich Police station where he was processed for Suspended Operation (due to DWI), Failure to Obey Sign, Roadway Having a Bridge and No Operators License. He was given a court date at Stamford Superior Court on Oct. 9. He was able to post his $210 cash bond and was released.
