This fall, Greenwich Land Trust invites the community to GO WILD! as its beloved annual family field day returns for its 27th year on Sunday, October 18, bringing families together for an afternoon of outdoor activities, music, food, and fun – all in celebration of 50 years of local conservation.

Held at the Greenwich Polo Club, GO WILD! is one of Greenwich Land Trust’s signature community events and is expected to welcome more than 1,000 people for an afternoon designed to get children and adults outside and enjoying the outdoors together.
This year’s event holds special significance as Greenwich Land Trust celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Founded in 1976 by a group of Greenwich residents committed to protecting the town’s open spaces, the organization has spent five decades conserving the natural places that help define the character and beauty of our community.
“GO WILD! is a wonderful expression of what Greenwich Land Trust has been about for the past 50 years – bringing people together around a shared appreciation for the land and creating opportunities for the next generation to experience and care for the natural world,” said Will Kies, Executive Director of Greenwich Land Trust. “We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with the entire community and invite families to come out, have fun, and GO WILD! with us.”
An Afternoon of Family Adventure
GO WILD! offers something for everyone, with a full afternoon of activities designed to encourage families to play, explore, and spend time outdoors. This year’s event will feature Ferris wheel rides and bungee jumping experiences. The event will also feature soccer with Aldwin, Touch-a-Truck, a Petting Zoo, family crafts, live music, local food trucks, and more!
Admission includes all activities, food, and beverages, making GO WILD! an easy way for families to spend a fall afternoon together while supporting local conservation.
“GO WILD! is one of those wonderful Greenwich traditions that brings together so many different parts of our community,” said Urling Searle, President of the Greenwich Land Trust Board. “As we celebrate 50 years of protecting open space, it feels especially meaningful to create an afternoon where children can simply have fun outdoors and begin building their own connection to the natural world.”

Celebrating 50 Years – and Looking Ahead
Proceeds from GO WILD! will support Greenwich Land Trust’s ongoing conservation work, including protecting and stewarding more than 1,014 acres of open space across 84 preserves, maintaining trails and natural habitats, and creating educational and volunteer opportunities that connect people of all ages with nature.
The event is part of a yearlong celebration marking Greenwich Land Trust’s 50th anniversary and reflecting on five decades of community-driven conservation.
“Fifty years ago, a group of thoughtful Greenwich residents recognized that protecting open space was essential to the character and future of this community,” said Kies. “Today, a new generation is carrying that vision forward. GO WILD! is a wonderful reminder that conservation is not only about protecting land – it is about creating places where people can gather, explore, learn, and build a lasting connection to nature.”
Greenwich Land Trust encourages families throughout Greenwich and the surrounding communities to join the celebration on October 18. With more than 1,000 attendees expected, GO WILD! promises to be a memorable afternoon and a fitting celebration of 50 years of protecting the places that make Greenwich special.
