State Representatives Steve Meskers (D-150) and Hector Arzeno (D-151) announced on Friday that Greenwich has been awarded $122,250 through the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) to support improvements to the trails at Pomerance and Tuchman Parks.
The grant is part of approximately $10.5 million in DEEP grants supporting 50 projects across Connecticut that will plan, build, expand, restore, and improve multi-use trails.
The Pomerance & Tuchman Parks ADA Accessible Trail – Construction and Enhancement project will support planning and design, construction, maintenance, and amenities to improve accessibility and the overall trail experience for residents and visitors.
“These investments will help make Connecticut’s parks and trails more accessible and welcoming while strengthening connections between our communities,” said Rep. Meskers in a release. “We are pleased to see Greenwich receive this funding to enhance the trails at Pomerance and Tuchman Parks and expand opportunities for people of all abilities to enjoy our beautiful outdoor spaces.”
“Investing in accessible trails is an investment in our community,” said Rep. Arzeno. “This funding will help improve recreational opportunities, promote health and well-being, and ensure that more residents can enjoy Greenwich’s parks and natural resources.”

The DEEP grant program supports projects that enhance outdoor recreation opportunities, strengthen connections between communities, improve public health, and contribute to Connecticut’s growing outdoor recreation economy
The improvements at Pomerance and Tuchman Parks will provide residents with enhanced opportunities to experience and enjoy Greenwich’s natural spaces while providing greater accessibility for people of all abilities.
The grants are being released through the Connecticut Recreational Trails Grant Program following a competitive review process conducted by DEEP in partnership with the Connecticut Greenways Council. The funding for the program was previously allocated by the State Bond Commission.
