OK, so HB 5002, a bill to address a dearth of affordable housing and growing homelessness, passes both the CT House and Senate. It now sits on Governor Lamont’s desk to sign – or not.
So, our Greenwich Senator and all three representatives vetoed the bill and offered a myriad of reasons the bill stinks.
Affordable housing is the Hot Potato, Kick the Can game and issue which continues to haunt all of Connecticut. Young families, seniors, those seeking shelter from climate’s elements wind, rain, snow, ice, extreme heat – what are they meant to do?
I’d like to hear what our Senator and Representatives offer instead to address this inhumane problem of the haves and the have not’s.
Admittedly, it’s a tough one which affects all residents who live inside and out. But – we must start somewhere. Maybe we who live inside need some compassion and give a little too.
As Edward Murrow said,” Goodnight and Good Luck.”
Respectfully,
