Connecticut Man Clocked at 119 MPH in I-95 Active Construction Zone

A Stratford man was arrested by State Police who clocked hm speeding at 119 mph through a construction zone on I-95 in Norwalk.

On March 17, 2025, at approximately 10:36pm, Troopers from Troop G in Bridgeport spotted an Infiniti sedan traveling at a high rate of speed in the advanced warning area of the Norwalk Highway Construction Pattern on I-95 north in the area of Exit 16 in Norwalk.

Troopers said the blue Infiniti Q50 was clocked at traveling 119 mph in a construction zone in a posted 55 mph zone.

The construction zone was active, and crews were working at the time of the incident.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop and the operator was identified as Rakeim Thompson, 24, of Stratford.

Thompson was immediately placed under arrest without incident. He was then transported to Troop G for processing where he was charged with the following:

  • C.G.S. 14-222***Z – Reckless Driving in a Construction Zone
    • C.G.S. 53a-64 – Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree

Thompson was released on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on April 8, 2025.
