LANCASTER: I Am Supporting Ryan Fazio

Submitted by Carl Lancaster, Riverside

November 5th is fast approaching, with early voting starting on October 21st. I plan to support the re-election of Ryan Fazio for the 36th Senate seat for several reasons. Ryan deserves to be re-elected just for his success in leading the opposition of the house bill 5390 which would have significantly reduced our local control over zoning in favor of the state. Our Democrat representatives all supported this bill.

They had all promised the voters to oppose any bills that would reduce or eliminate local control of zoning, a promise they all broke when they voted FOR HB 5390 because they serve the Democrats in Hartford instead of their constituents.

I am also supporting Ryan because he has been a leader on trying to deal with our skyrocketing electric rates. He has called for a special session to deal with the outrageous ‘Public Benefits’ charge. Ryan was also responsible for requiring the electric companies to separately show that charge on your electric bill. Ask the Democrats of Greenwich about a special session or their solutions, we hear nothing but crickets.

I also learned that Nick Simmons, the Democrat currently running against Ryan, has raised 2/3 of his campaign funds from sources outside our district. It is fair to ask – who will he serve? The outside donors, the Democrats in Hartford or the voters of the 36th district? If the history of Democrat party holds true, I suspect it will not be the voters. Would Simmons be willing to return the out of district money? I am not holding my breath.

We also need to re-elect Ryan, not only because of the aforementioned accomplishments, but also to prevent a Democrat super-majority in Hartford. If you want the same disastrous results we are seeing at a national level, i.e., an arrogant and non-responsive government, vote for Nick Simmons. I will be voting for Ryan.
