Greenwich Police arrested a Bronx, NY man on Oct 13 after plainclothes officers working in the central business district observed suspicious activity at a local bank.
After detaining the suspect, Igor Stoica, 33, investigation revealed he had utilized multiple counterfeit debit cards with the Personally Identifying Information of different victims in an attempt to fraudulently obtain funds at local ATMs.
A search incident to Stoica’s arrest revealed 84 counterfeit debit cards and $2,810.
He was arrested and charged as follows:
Criminal Attempt Larceny 3
Fraudulent Use of Auto Teller
Less than $500 on Revoked Payment Card
Receipt from Illegal Use of Credit Card
84 counts of Identity Theft 3
84 counts of Forgery 3
Stoica was unable to post his $50,000 bond and assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Oct 27, 2023.
