Back in March, Greenwich Police said a 67-year old victim had been using the ATM at Wells Fargo Bank on West Putnam Ave when he was pushed back into the lobby area by the knife-wielding suspect who demanded he withdraw more funds. Police at the time added that the victim had been unable to complete any further transactions and was robbed of the money he had just withdrawn. After the incident Chamberlain fled on foot, but police obtained photos from surveillance on site.
The warrant alleges that Chamberlain observed the victim exiting the vestibule and demanded money from the victim.
Chamberlain brandished a knife, pushed the victim back into the vestibule, preventing him from leaving and robbed the victim of his money.
The blade cut the victim’s hand during the encounter.
Chamberlain was charged with the following:
53a-134 – Robbery 1st
53a-123 – Larceny 2nd
53a-61a – Assault 3rd on an Elderly Victim
53a-62(a)(1) – Threatening 2nd w/ Physical Threat
53a-95 – Unlawful Restraint
Chamberlain was unable to post his court-set bond of $250,000 and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on July 6, 2023.
