At Tuesday’s P&Z meeting, the commission approved a request for 30 outdoor dining seats at Saks Works restaurant, Ruby & Bella’s, at 265 Greenwich Ave.
The 30 seats will be partially inside a node formed by concrete jersey barriers on Greenwich Ave and partially on the sidewalk. The node takes up four parking spaces.
Specifically there will be 15 tables for two. That will break down to six tables inside the node and nine tables on the sidewalk.
The applicant will be required to return annually prior to April to request seasonal outdoor dining, which runs from April 1 to Nov 1.
Attorney representing applicant was Jackie Kaufman, who said last year the restaurant was approved in 2021 for temporary outdoor dining with 60 seats, but P&Z commission chair Margarita Alban said that in 2021 the restaurant was approval for 24 tables with 48 seats, and the nodes filled eight parking spaces.
Ms Kaufman explained that 41 interior seats had been identified that can be removed to allow for the outdoor dining in the form of 15 tables with two chairs each.
The commission voted unanimously to approve.
