Greenwich Police Warn of Possible Infractions for Violators of Dog Leash Law

Greenwich Police announced on Sunday that a number of complaints about unleashed dogs had been coming in to the chief’s office.

In fact, Captain Mark Zuccerella said there had been an uptick in unleashed dogs throughout the Town.

Leash Law Reminder on Public School Grounds and All Public Parks

• All dogs, at all times, must be kept on a secure leash less than ten (10) feet in length and dog handlers or owners must provide for the prompt removal of feces, should the dog defecate in said areas. (Section 4-115 ToG Code)

• April 1 to November 30, no animals allowed on any beach (Section 7-44 Town of Greenwich Code)

“We are asking for resident and visitor compliance with this matter. A dog owner/handler may be charged with an infraction for violating this law,” Zuccerella continued, adding. “Greenwich Police Animal Control officers and the post cars will be checking these areas for violators.”
