Greenwich Man Charged with DUI and Failure to Comply with Fingerprinting Requirements

While patrolling the western side of town on the afternoon of Aug 8, Greenwich Police officers observed a car driving erratically. A motor vehicle stop was initiated. Upon approaching the driver’s side of the vehicle, the accused, Regis Gmitter, 73, of Greenwich, was observed to have bloodshot and glassy eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverages. While exiting the vehicle, Gmitter was observed to be unsteady on his feed.

At police headquarters Gmitter refused to sign his fingerprint cards.

He was charged with DUI, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, Unsafe Movement of Stopped Vehicle and Failure to Comply with Fingerprint Requirements.

He was unable to post his $250 bond and was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on Aug 23, 2021.
