Greenwich Man charged with Assault, Strangulation

Greenwich Police arrested a Greenwich man on Friday. At around 2:00pm multiple Greenwich Police units responded to Pemberwick on a report of a verbal altercation between two people.

When they arrived they discovered that Michael Rinello, 44, had an active arrest warrant stemming back to an incident on Aug 1 and Aug 2 in which Rinello had a physical fight with the victim.

Police say he strangled the victim, grabbed and threw the victim into a wall and punched the victim’s car windshield, leaving it damaged. Also that he continued to harass the victim by sending several text messages after being advised to stop contacting the victim and violated his court order of protection.

He was charged with Criminal Mischief 3, Disorderly Conduct, Harassment 2, Violation of Protective Order, Assault 3, Strangulation 2.

He was able to post his court set $50,000 surety bond and was released.

He was issued a court date the same day of his arrest.
