Planning & Zoning Announces Workshop on Draft Energy Regulations

Greenwich’s Energy Management Advisory Committee (EMAC), in collaboration with the Town’s Planning & Zoning Commission, invites members of the building community and the public to a presentation and discussion of draft energy regulations.

The proposed regulations reflect EMAC’s purpose to advise the Selectmen on ways to “save more and pollute less” in terms of energy consumption. The regulations aim to increase P&Z’s visibility into energy efficiency and renewables practices in proposed buildings, and to invite applicants to focus on opportunities for energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy systems.

Workshop participants will engage in topics and questions of efficiency costs, savings, and energy risks; market demand for efficient buildings; and the impact of this regulation on P&Z.

Public and industry input and ideas are being sought by EMAC and P&Z as part of a months-long effort seeking input from local and regional architects, builders, developers, energy modelers and certification organizations.
